SCRABSTER HARBOUR TRUST

NOTICE TO MARINERS  NO.  03/2012

 

SCRABSTER HARBOUR –

OLD FISH MARKET PIER AND TANKER BERTH DEVELOPMENT -

DREDGING WORKS   

Mariners are advised that dredging works and the disposal of dredged spoil materials in connection with the above development project shall commence at Scrabster on 4th May 2012, lasting for a period of approximately 6 weeks. Dredging operations shall be carried out 24 hours per day.  The backhoe dredger NORDIC GIANT shall work in the Harbour Entrance between the St Ola Quays and the Ice Quay/Fish Dock; Fish Dock; Outer Basin and Inner Basin.  The dump barges LONG SAND and HANS shall work with Nordic Giant and shall transit regularly between the Harbour and the Licensed Disposal Site (Co-ordinates below).  The workboat F48 shall also be working with the dredger and undertaking regular surveys within the port area.  

 

All vessels engaged in the dredging and disposal operations shall maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 12 at all times and shall display the lights and signals as required under the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collision at Sea.

All vessels should provide as much prior notification as possible of their ETA and their intentions to the Port Control (tel 01847 892779  email ops@scrabster.co.uk ) to ensure that disruption and delays are minimised.    All vessels entering, leaving or manoeuvring within the harbour must contact “Scrabster Harbour” on VHF channel 12 prior to undertaking any manoeuvres, to receive clearance to do so.  All vessels must proceed with caution.   

 

The licensed dumping site for dredged spoil is bounded by joining the coordinates:
