As well as the Superintendent being available for emergencies at any time the canteen staff is in the Canteen from 6am Monday to Friday and 7am on a Saturday with the official opening hours being from 7:30am Monday to Saturday to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 1pm on a Saturday. the Mission also has a room on the Market and runs a tea room the days that the Fish Market is being held. The lady is there Monday to Friday from 9:30am - 1:30pm when there is a market and longer if required.

On Sunday there is a Sing-along held (An interdenominational Church Service ) at 3pm followed by a cup of tea at 4pm which is conducted by the Mission Man.

In the Winter a Ladies Guild is held every other Wednesday Evening from 7:30pm - 9:30pm.

From Scrabster the Superintendent covers an area from Tongue to Alness and the Orkney Isles calling at all the Fishing towns and villages as required. As well as the Superintendent there is an Honory Agent in Stromness :Mr C. Steers & Mrs A. MacDonald at Helmsdale - who on hearing of special needs will contact the Mission and inform the Superintendent of what is required.

There is a visiting list of over 140 Fishing Families of Widows & Retired Fishermen who are visited at least once a year by the Mission Superintendent and more when a call has been given due to ill-health or need.

The Superintendent also acts as Honory Agent to Shipwreck Mariners and The Scottish Sailors Orphan Society giving out grants to nearly 60 homes twice a year covering from Thurso along the Coast line and including Wick where there is financial need and they are receiving support. Counselling is given in the home and in the Office at Scrabster in whatever way it is required as the threat of disaster is always real for those connected with the Fishing Industry.

Whether for the active Fishermen & their families or the Retired Fishermen & their wives and the Widows and the Orphans the Mission and the Superintendent is always available when there is a need.

The Superintendent is trained to be available as a visitor to homes and hospitals - and when needed will conduct the funeral services of those connected with the sea . Often standing in at Church services and Guilds and Schools sharing their faith and also at times sharing the work that is done on behalf of the Fishermen. Fundraising plays also a serious part in the work of caring, but whatever is being done it is being done in keeping with the Mission's motto of

" Preach the Word and Heal the Sick."

Murray Campbell is the Scrabster Mission Superintendent. Murray has set up an Exhibition of old Scrabster photos and also did the dedication for the opening of the Queen Elizabeth pier.
